Solstice is a day that I always find interesting. It is the darkest day of the year. Some think that winter should start today just because that is when the sun is at its lowest. This year at least, winter has been a lot earlier than that. I get encouraged by the solstice by the fact that since it is the darkest day of the year, it means that the days will start getting longer. It will not be noticable at first but it will slowly lengthen and then pick up speed by the equinox.
