Getting the Giggles

I was at church for Lenten services last night. A friend and I were goofing around when we both both broke into uncontrollable laughter. Man that felt good. I did not realize how long it has been since I laughed like that. Definitely need to loosen up more. Sometimes you don't realize how wound up you have been for so long until the giggles bust there way in. Now that one case of the giggles broke in, the others can find the hole in the defenses and hit me again, they sure felt good.

Small towns

Let me start off with the fact that I have not been feeling the best over the last couple of days. Second of all, we got nailed by a ton of snow today. I wen tout to get the garbage can in and someone offered to do the driveway. I am not going to pass that up. I dont like doing it when I am feeling good. Don't see that in larger cities. Maybe it is just because it harder to see when it happens there. I love small towns.

Planners

It has been on e of those times. I am getting use to using my pda as an organizer and starting to see all the things that are not getting done. I know I am behind but getting your organizer up and going starts improving your vision on all that is not getting done without getting it done at first. That hurts-A LOT. The good thing is is that once you see what needs to be done, it actually can be done. Then the hurt goes away a lot faster than trying to struggle through. It is just that for the first week or two it seams like you are spending time you could be doing, just to help see what it is that is undone. It's depressing. But I am starting to get things done. hopefully, it will start flowing better instead of just getting done. Until then, it's off to the land of clean.

Ramblings

Yeah, I am going to grumble about the weather again. There are flood warnings in Noble county again. No surprise. There is just too much water around. A lot of it is frozen but we have been playing around the freezing mark and getting more rain. I really don't know if it would be better to have a quick or a slow warm up to deal with the water the best. I get the feeling it could be a rough spring.I am looking forward to spring. It is the 18th of February and the days are getting noticeable longer. It is a typical February: a bit below average and waiting for the temps to jump warm. I should not complain too much about cold, it was mild and raining yesterday. I guess I am being impatient.

In other news. I have been working on a website of my own. Check it out here. It is not much but a place to put things that don't necessarily work into the blog right. It may be of interest to others, might not. It is an experiment on my part. I don't know if I will ever be happy with it but i will enjoy the process of molding it. It is an experiment with a website and another way to learn html and using the computer. I will never be a code monkey god but at least I won't be a dumb end user. I guess I just want to get a bit more out of the digital toys that are around the house. we paid for them and pay for the internet service so might as well use it to my advantage.

Valentine's Day

I am not the most romantic person. I have never gotten into the Valentine's day thing. If it fell off the calender, I would not miss it. Call me a male chauvinist pig but I would rather do nice to my wife daily then ignore her and begrudgingly do something on every February 14. If I did, I would not be married long. If there is something to celebrate, then when it happens, we can celebrate, have a nice meal and maybe a glass of wine. It will be stale if we wait for some artificial date.

What romance is to this male chauvinist pig is all the little things we do. It is going off to work when we don't want to. It is the making of dinner when we just want to bother. It is the 2AM wakeup and there is someone sharing the bed with you. It is all the small and not so small stuff that makes life nice.

Information on the Internet is correct, Right?

The internet is a good source of information, right? It can be and there is a lot of good information to be gotten. The problem is that the information is only as good as what is put into it. I have run across old and out dated material. I have seen miss labeled pictures whether it is on the part of the webmaster or that a search engine has done a poor job at putting key words to the picture. To add to the normal errors and typos that come in, there are some that have less than stellar motives to put out bad information. The long and short of it is the internet is a good place to start research but not enough to do good research. Ues the wetwear to go with what you find online. Have a healthy skepitism and use the tool for what it is worth.

Spring and geocaching

It must be February. I waiting for it to warm up so I can start enjoying the outdoors again. I am starting to get the itch to find a cache or a benchmark or do some waymarking. Between the cold, snow and how wet it has been, there are not many caches I would want to go after. The benchmarks are under snow and I do not particularly want to start digging for them only to find out that was not quit the spot. I guess I could do a waymark but i do not necessarily wan to do a picture of it with snow in the picture. Doubly so if the snow is not virgin and all dirtied up. March will com e and the snow will go and I will be able to start looking for things again with the aid of the gps.

Online D&D

I have been involved with an online D&D. We have been using google chat and it has been interesting. It is a different experience that gaining live. It has been presenting some challenges as some households have multiple players on a single character which presents some interaction challenges. I think it is just a learning curve problem and learning what does and does not work. It is not like we have not done the online interaction before but it is a case of seeing how to make it work the best. It does not help that sometimes google chat goofs up some times and does not work at its best all the time but it does work. I have heard that some gamers have used some other online programs to game online. The consensus I get that it works but it is not a face to face game. The nice thing is that people from all around the world can game together. The game I am in is happening in Ohio, Indiana and Washington State and nobody has to drive. With the price of gas, that is pretty cool.

The Guy/Gal Dynamic

Every so often I think about how guy/gal relationships go. It is a weird tension that goes there. I have had friends who happened to be female without being girlfriends. I have had female friends who have become girlfriends and one who became my wife and is still my friend: A very special friend and my best friend but still a friend. I honestly believe that a man and a woman can be friends without sex being a part of the relationship but what I don't believe is that it can entirely be without the sexual tension . It does not have to be obvious or overt but there is still at least a small spark of attraction. There is always that potential of opening up that bottle with the genie in it. It may even be buried so that the pair are not consciously aware of it. To me that is the scary part. When you don't know it is there, it can slip out and you may wind up in a situation you did not necessarily find yourself in. It also could lead to the now couple to date. Friendship is the basis of a good marriage. Good looks and great sex are great for getting into love but it does not carry the relationship for the long haul. Somewhere in there, liking and loving each other much form. Do all guy/gal relations have to end in sex? NO. Are good marriages started by friendships? In my opinion , yes. It is a tough thing to keep clear sometimes but if we are reminded where the rocks of sexual tension are and they do exist even under the water, we can sail the boat of friendship safely.

I'll get off my soapbox. Hopefully this has been clearer than mud. I don't know if I understand this all the time but know this to be awfully close to truth and correct. Just two cents worth for what it is worth.

More Weird Weather

Got woken up by a thunder storm last night. The snow is almost gone and more rain and snow to come. I don't remember the last time we had normal weather.

Ground Hog Day

It's been a nice day. It has gotten warmer. It's is starting to make me think we may be turning the corner with winter. Statistically speaking, we are past the coldest part of the year . I know we are not out of the woods yet but the days will start becoming obviously longer. That reminds me, I want to check sunrise/sunset for the Wednesdays of Lent. It is always interesting to see how they shift and change. Lent is 1 day off from the earliest it will be. Regardless, the passing of lent is a great framework for watching the end of winter and beginning of spring. I won't be sad to see the depth of winter go. Not that I want to the dog days of summer either. The extremes of weather has never been my forte. I can generally endure the cold better.
