Letterboxing North America

Since I am starting to get inot letterboxing, here is another letterboxing site called letterboxing North America (link). Like I said last week, it is going hunting for hindden boxes and is quite fun. It is also a very similar hobby to geocaching and waymarking but not quite. Variants of a theme with different flavors. This week's webness is Atlasquest.com (link). It is one the websites for letterboxing that is out there. It is about an interesting treasure hunt where you get clues to find hidden boxes. check it out.

Hydbrid Hunting

I have been a gps gamer both as Captian Spaulding and "Paws"itraction for a while now. I think the longer I do this, the more divers ways I will do this. It started out just geocaching then i folded benchmarks and waymarks also came in. I am also going GPSr-less with letterboxing. I am really amused with the morphing styles of play. It will be interesting to see how my play changes as new elements are picked up and let go.

Just as a side note, I am starting to get another irratation about micros. I have two travel bugs that I picked up and am having a problem placing because of the lack of bigger caches that can hold them. The one I got because it was in an unknowncache that was not listed and the other was given to me to get moving. I am getting plans to get them moving however. I just wish it was a bit more timely.

Letterboxing

My wife and I tried letterboxing out this weekend. I t seams like it is going to be a nice add on to the gps games except that it will be without the gps. We went to a letterboxing event which had quite a few temporary letterbox hides that were easy ahnd gave us a tasted of letterboxing. Now to start using atlasquest.com and go out on our own to find. the most ackward part is trying to deal with the stamps on the trail. The neat thing is that there are some absolutely geourgeous hand carved stamps out there. In any case, it will help with getting out of the house and up off our no so little behinds and try to walk them smaller. That is always a good thing.

geo weirdness and possible letterboxing

Paws and I were asked to help checkout a possible new cache in Pokagon state Park. we went out found it in order to see if we could pick up a few clues about it. We thougt we might have when we found a TB inside but the Tb (link) had gone MIA and was last seen in Florida. Needless to say, it traveled over a thousand miles without getting logged or tacked. We thought it may have been a letterbox but the TB is making it loook like a geocache but the cache does not seam to be on geocaching.com. This seams to be a mystery without many answers.

The course of conversation over this possible being a letterbox got us some news that there would be a letterbox event at Pokagon state park. we have checked it out adn we are going to try to make it. I am also checking out atlasquest.com and finding out more about it there. we will wait and see how that works out.
